These photographs were taken on a two week trip to Utah in late September 2016. The subject of most of the images focuses on red rock sandstone formations found in Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef national parks. By some random chance of fate, it rained only on travel days or on a number of occasions during the night. As a consequence, the atmosphere was washed free of dust, and the resulting photographs were generally unblemished by autumn haze. Almost every day the intensely blue sky was checkered by the passing clouds of the previous night's rain. This permitted a rare conjunction of excellent photographic conditions and opportunities.
